The New Thing Art and Architecture Center, founded by former architect turned film and TV production pioneer Topper Carew, served as a beacon of inspiration and artistry for the once predominantly Black, Adams Morgan neighborhood in Washington DC from 1966 - 1972. 

This exhibition is a timeless testament to the beauty of empowering our communities.

Developed by Jackson-Reed High School in collaboration with the Katzen Arts Center at American University. Facilitated and organized by Marc Minsker (Assistant Principal at Jackson-Reed) and curated by Britt Oates and the Student Curatorial Team at Jackson-Reed.
